Pinner Construction completed the seismic improvements and code upgrades to this five-story concrete library tower structure. The building footprint is 1,800 SF of ground-floor space, including a 10,200 SF floor area for a total of more than 58,000 SF of program space. Code upgrades were mandated due to the extent of the seismic retrofit construction performed per the DSA requirements and approvals. These upgrades included, but were not limited to: foundation underpinning, new caisson and foundations, new BRB structural steel, FRP strengthening of existing concrete beams, and columns; fire sprinkler installation; variable air volume and air handler system with zone reheat to increase the energy efficiency and meet Title 24 energy code requirements; new enlarged restrooms; a designated �area of refuge�; exit corridors and staircases; a fire access road and two fire hydrants for emergencies; and new elevators.
