Byrd Middle School HVAC Renovation
A complete renovation of the HVAC system at Byrd Middle School.
This project involved the removal of existing radiant heating and cooling panels that acted as a faux-ceiling in four buildings on the Byrd campus. These panels were replaced with traditional ducted HVAC systems through the use of new air handlers, VAV boxes, fan coil units, and an upgraded chiller plant. Heating and cooling capacity was provided to the buildings by existing hydronic heating, chilled water main loops, and the addition of ACT ceilings and hardlid soffits to cover the majority of the new ducted systems. While this HVAC system replacement occurred, the low voltage systems were also relocated to the new signal room in the A buildings with certain specified upgrades to occur simultaneously. Because storage room spaces had to be utilized for new air handlers, new storage rooms were also built in the A buildings to replace those lost storage spaces.
